Why choose homeopathy?
Homeopathy takes into account your present ill-health, how your symptoms feel, as well as your health history. Using the principle of ‘like treats like’, a substance which creates symptoms in a healthy person can be used to treat someone suffering from those same symptoms. If I saw three patients, all with migraines, they may need different homeopathic remedies depending on their individual symptoms rather than 'migraine medicine'.
Regular medication makes your body change, homeopathic remedies encourage your body to rebalance itself. Homeopathy is flexible so you usually only need a small dose for a short time. No need to avoid alcohol, worry about working, driving or operating machinery and the remedies are non-addictive. Homeopathic treatment has an excellent safety record; homeopathic medicines are non-toxic, safe by babies, children and pregnancy.
Homeopathic Pharmacies prepare the homeopathic medicines, which are mainly made from plants and minerals, using a process combining serial dilution with succussion (vigorous shaking). The number of times this is repeated, determines the strength or potency of the remedy, which will be given to you in tablet or sometimes liquid form. Scientific research on ultrahigh dilutions is beginning to reveal information on the biological effects; our patients have known for years that this happens for them in practice.
Your medicine will be easy to take small tablets, which melt under your tongue or you may be prescribed your remedy as a spray to take directly into your mouth.
A Complementary Therapy
For 200 years, Homeopathy has helped people regain health and happiness, making pain and misery their history rather than their present. It works alone or alongside other forms of treatment, both conventional and complementary.
I strongly recommend that you maintain your relationship with your GP and medical professionals; it is good to inform your GP that you are receiving homeopathic treatment. I am happy to discuss your progress with your healthcare team if you like. I may recommend other therapists such as a Counsellor, a Cranio-Sacral Osteopath or a Nutritionist.
Homeopathic remedies are very useful for simple first aid and for acute self-limiting illness such as colds.
